Maintenance...

Phil earned his A&P Mechanic License in May 2009.

Phil continues to learn all the intricate workings of airplane innards - from ignition switches, generators, blown fuses, and stripped screws - he's gaining experience on a regular basis. Several things he's been able to do:

* Troubleshoot generator issue

* Remove & install generator

* Replace worn out throttle & mixture control cables

*Replace broken rudder cable

* Troubleshoot & repair inoperative elevator trim mechanism (elevator controls nose up or down)

* Troubleshoot other electrical problems

*Install brakes on Piper Super Cub (plane shown at left)

*Attach wings Super Cub - and then detach wings to get it ready to move

*Install instruments on Cessna 172 (on right)

*Calmly landing the plane at dusk when the generator fuse blew in the air - with young passengers on board!
