Ok - it is SO hard to keep up with family news!!  Here are a few things that didn't make it into newsletter recently!

Summer 2008

EJ has been playing piano more often at church and Phil sings in the choir.  The boys are learning handbells.  Matthew likes to charm all the ladies at church and smile big for them.

We have gotten to know some of our neighbors and the kids like to come and hang out.  Below is photo of our boys with two of the neighbor boys at our VBS back in June.  Both of these boys have since moved from our area.

EJ is tutoring an adult gal in math so she can take a paraeducator exam for the state of Kentucky.

Phil was able to use his mechanic skills on our van!  He replaced both the front and back shocks.  We praise the Lord for Missionaire and the practical use to our training!

Announcing ~  Matthew Lucas Blohm
born Aug 5th ~ 2007
7.6 pounds and 20 1/2 inches!

Matthew means "gift from God"
Lucas means "bearer of light"

Here are the big boys!  Andrew turned 9 on July 22!  It's hard to believe that he was once smaller than little Matthew!  He's been a huge help around the house and tries hard to watch out for his younger brothers.

Benji is 7 and 1/2 now and SO ready to turn 8!  He's mastered the jump rope now and sure likes to be active.  He's a great helper too!

Michael is 6 and just loves Matthew!  He decided to give him his favorite blanket - just in case Matthew needed it.  He keeps up with his older brothers quite well - helping Mom out often!

The schools here started back up on August 2.  While we've done some review work, our little homeschool won't officially start until the end of August :)

One of Michael's Newest Works of Art!

Our Church Home at last

We have decided to attend First Baptist Church of Tompkinsville.  It's only 3 blocks from our house and the folks who attend have been so wonderful!  It's VERY different than what we are used to - but God is showing us that He works even in the "differentness".  It's been a growing time for us yet oh so important!

Flying Dinosauers & Birthday Questions

Michael was musing about what he wanted to be when he grew up.  So he thinks about it for a moment and says to Phil "Dad, I think I'd like to be a flying dinosauer."  Phil says "Oh really?  Why's that?"  Ever the thinker, Michael says "Cuz then I could fly way up high over all the other dinosauers and they could never get me!"

Michael turned 6 on Feb. 27!  Due to our schedules, we decided to have his birthday party with some friends the night before.  He was all for it, naturally, until the morning of his birthday.  He says "But you are supposed to get presents on your birthday!  Where are my presents?"  I explained we had him open them last night, but he still insisted I buy him something else just for his birthday.  I finally told him we could wrap up all his presents again and he open them, he got really quiet.  "Nah, that's ok.  I know what they are."

Pogo Stick and Jump Rope....

As for Benji - after watching a movie about jump roping, he insisted on learning how!  So we got them all a jump rope and he's been hard at it ever since!  He loves when we count how many times he jumps.  He's getting pretty good too!

He mastered Andrew's birthday Pogo stick last fall.  Determined to outdo his older brother, Benji kept at it and now can jump over 25 times in a row!  Andrew decided that the pogo stick he so longed for has lost it's appeal - relinquishing it to his sports minded brother most of the time.

Heavenly Swim....

In talking about heaven the other day, Andrew asked if there was swimming available.  I replied "Well, I know the Bible says there is a crystal sea in heaven, so maybe we can swim in it."  He gets all excited and says "Crystal!  Then I can go diving for crystals and bring them all to Jesus!"

Andrew has become quite the helper for me - and is so strong!  He's been great at helping with all the unloading we've had to do.  He also finds peace from his brothers with Adventures in Odyssey tapes and a headset.  Suddenly the car trips aren't so long.
