Blohm Flying News

Answering the Call to Missionary Aviation

Autumn 2009 Newsletter

August:
* At the end of August EJ packed up Michael and Matthew to make the 10 hour drive to Springfield, MO.  They were able to help out her sister in law Sara while she was on bedrest with their 2nd baby.

* While there, Phil’s Grandpa Blohm passed away.  Friends drove Phil, Andrew, and Ben to St. Louis to meet up with EJ and we were in Wisconsin for a long weekend for his “Going Home Celebration”.  We didn’t know when we planted our tomato plant in the 5 gallon bucket “just like Grandpa always did” that it would be his last summer.

September:
*Phil began Instrument Flight Training, focusing mainly on the ground school requirements and textbook reading.

* EJ’s sister Sahs came down to Kentucky and stayed with us for awhile – but it was more than a visit!
  She was able to adopt a newborn boy born in Louisville – and EJ was the first family member to hold Jakai!  What a privilege to share in her joy!

* We began looking at missionary aviation groups and started the preliminary application with AIM AIR, which flies in Africa.  Go to www.aimair.org to find out more about it.  We’ve not fully decided yet, so pray for us as we explore opportunities to serve Him.

October:
* On October 2, Nicholas Krueger was born to EJ’s brother Joe and his wife Sara.  He was 6 weeks early but had only minor complications, coming home after 2 weeks in NICU.  Thank you for praying for them!

* Phil passed the 2 ˝ hour written exam for Instrument Flight Rating!

* We made another trip to Wisconsin, this time to share with Victory Church at their annual mission banquet.  We were also able to connect with many friends, had several pastor/church meetings, and have some family time as well.

* EJ is the VBS Director for our church in 2010.  Pray for wisdom, inspiration, and volunteers!

* Benji turned 10 on October 29!

* The next two months will be focused mainly on the flying portion of Phil’s next pilot rating.  We praise the Lord for extra funds for flight time!

Scripture to Ponder:

James 1:5
If any man lacks wisdom,
let him ask of God...
